This bench was designed in the late 1960s by Dutch designer Friso Kramer for Wilkhahn.
The piece has been professionally refinished and repainted in green. Originally, the bench was produced in orange; however, the original paint was in a condition that required improvement. The repainting was therefore carried out to restore a clean and coherent overall appearance while preserving the character of the design.
The aluminium frame and seat surface have been thoroughly cleaned and polished. Apart from the repainting, no structural modifications were made. The bench is now in very good overall condition.
It forms part of a modular seating system originally developed for public waiting and transit areas and was widely used in train stations, airports, and comparable environments. The seat shell is made from glass-fibre reinforced polyester and rests on a lightweight yet durable aluminium frame. Today, this model is regarded as a sought-after collector’s piece, appreciated for its clear lines, industrial materiality, and timeless suitability for both private and public interiors.
The original orange version of this model was notably used at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, where it became a design icon of its era.
